The Plot
The Tale of Granite Falls
[attr="class","box1"] In the past, the country of Ashdar was hidden from the rest of the world, covered in a mist in the middle of the ocean. It was seen as a lawless free spirit land, but one that was also at war with itself. In recent memory however, Ashdar has garnered a reputation of being a magical stronghold and a place of peace. Here the citizens are given the opportunity to harness their respective gifts through magical gemstones – the last given gift to them from their gods. The last several decades, Ashdar opened its borders to international visitors and accepted them into their society fully. It all seems to be full of life, as well as economic and cultural growth. Though, like any country, the evil that rears its ugly head has been mostly kept from mass media outlets.
In the Mountain top town of Granite Falls, another year of the pilgrimage to receive the gifts has been enshrouded with shadow. Keith Heatherfield, a student of the Icarus Academy, was found unconscious. His connection to his soul gem severed and consequently his familiar missing. Rumours of the attack began to spread throughout the student populous, but the faculty quickly stepped in to conduct an internal investigation into the attack. Though, there are divided loyalties among the faculty and students in the Academy, no one is sure who to believe anymore. Xavier Ashdown, the headmaster of the academy, has swore he would capture the attacker.
Outside of Granite Falls and the Icarus Academy, bodies are being found all over the country. The news is covering it as a serial killer traveling around the country however the Council of the Silent Dragon suspects that the Followers of the Horizon might be at fault… though whenever they send something undercover, they return a shadow of their former selves.
With the rumours of the attack at the school and an inconclusive investigation on the murders around the country, the countrymen have become restless and divided amongst themselves. So which side of Ashdar do you want to uncover?
